They are considering share issuance as a means to raise funds for debt restructuring and debt repayment. In addition to private offerings, the majority of these businesses aim to mobilise capital from existing shareholders.
The banking sector had made considerable headway into settling bad debt, restructuring credit institutions and developing the banking system two years since the National Assembly issued a resolution on the industry.
The State Bank of Viet Nam plans to buy bad debts worth between VND70 trillion and VND100 trillion, or between US$3.33 billion and $4.76 billion, this year.
